MODEL AVIATION
THE MODEL AVIATORS of South
Arkansas, AMA club 3185, held its Fall
2005 Fly-In. The below photo is of all of the
registered pilots.
Larry Weddle of Monticello, Arkansas, won
Best Electric Flight.
Floyd McCarty of Monroe, Louisiana, won
Best Sport Aircraft.
Father and son Shane and Logan Smith of
West Monroe, Louisiana, won best 3-D
Aircraft Flight.
Johnny Westbrock from Little Rock,
Arkansas, took the prize for Best of Show
Aircraft.
Michael Manning, editor of Super Glitch, the
newsletter of the Tulsa, Oklahoma, Glue
Dobbers sent in the following photo from the
Heatwave in the Heartland Jumbo Fly-in.
On Saturday, May 13, 2006, the Lauderdale
RC Model Club of Caldwell, Texas, hosted
area Scouts for an introduction to model
aviation day at its field. Approximately 25
Scouts and their leaders learned the basics of
safety operating RC models and each had an
opportunity to guide the models with the help
of club instructors via the buddy box.
The aircraft they used were part of a
collection donated to the club by Richard
Knee, formerly of Smithville, Texas. One of
the stipulations specified by Mr. Knee was
that they were to be used to help train young
people.
The club served lunch to the Scouts and
their sponsors during the event.
