Author: Dr. Sandy Frank

Edition: Model Aviation - 2004/03
Page Numbers: 172

THE 2003 ELECTION for the Executive
Council (EC) members in each of the evennumbered
AMA districts has concluded.
All of the incumbent EC members were
returned to office.
I sincerely appreciate all who voted in
this election. As always, I will endeavor to
represent the opinion of the majority of the
membership in the matters which the EC
must consider.
One significant issue related to me
during this election was that most of the
District VIII members would prefer to see
less text and more photographs in my
column!
Obviously, I cannot attend all events
and activities within the region. Toward the
goal of seeing less text and more
photographs, I am soliciting you to submit
photographs to be used in future columns.
Pleases send your photographs to the
above address via the United States Postal
Service.
Ron Stanfield, District VIII Associate
Vice President (AVP) of Maumelle,
Arkansas, sent in the following text and
photos.
These pictures are from the CARTI funfly
held in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
The September, 2003 event was to help
support the Central Arkansas Research
Tech Institute (cancer research). They were
published in the local newspaper and
purchased from the newspaper so they
could be shared with you.
Steve Thomas of Hot Springs, Arkansas,
starts his engine.
Marshall Burroughs of Little Rock,
Arkansas, is one of the region's better
helicopter pilots.
Steve Brown is from North Little Rock,
Arkansas; the modeler behind Steve on
the right is Mike Thrower of Pine Bluff,
Arkansas.
Ron Stanfield (L) of Maumelle, Arkansas,
and Gene Hatfield. Ron's airplane is an
electric Powerhouse and Gene's model is
a four-stroke glow Powerhouse.
Lyndel Roe of North Little Rock,
Arkansas, is flying a 33% International
Miniature Aircraft Council-type airplane.
The telephoto lens makes this look much
closer than it was!

Contest director Todd Blose addresses
the pilots at the 21st Annual Greater
Southwest Jet Rally.
In the Waco, Texas, area, the 21st Annual
Greater Southwest Jet Rally was held in
Speegleville, Texas. Todd Blose was the
fill-in contest director because his father,
District VIII AVP Max Blose, had a highschool
reunion conflict with the event.
The event sponsor was Heart of Texas
Miniature Aircraft Club. Todd did an
excellent job filling his fathers shoes
running this event.

Annual Greater Southwest Jet Rally.
