INDUCTION into the District VIII Dirty
Dozen Society: No matter how large an
aeromodeling club is, there is always the
“Dirty Dozen” in the club. These are not
usually the best fliers, or even the most
famous in the club.
They are the ones who do the dirty tasks
that must be done so the rest of the club can
have fun and enjoyment. They mow the
field, move the portable toilets, and do the
hundreds of other less-than-glamorous
things that must be done for a modeling club
to thrive.
The award certificate states: “In
recognition of outstanding efforts promoting
the sport and hobby of model aviation,
contributions above and beyond the call of
duty, and setting examples that inspire
fellow members, this AMA member is
hereby inscribed into the rolls of the AMA
District VIII Dirty Dozen Society.”
Bob Wilder of Colleyville, Texas, was
inducted in March 2004. Bob is past
president and founder of the AMA Special
Interest Group (SIG) National Indoor
Remote-Control Aircraft Council (NIRAC)
and the CD for all previous Southwestern
Aeromodeling Conference indoor flying
events.
The award certificate concludes with the
following quote: “It has long come to my
attention that people of accomplishment
rarely sit back and let things happen. They
are the ones who go out and make things
happen.”
