182 MODEL AVIATION
JIM LUSTER of San Diego, California,
presents his spectacular electric-powered 1/8-
scale He 219 UHU German Night Fighter at
the July club meeting of the Silent Electric
Flyers of San Diego (SEFSD).
Pictured with Jim (R) is SEFSD president
Steve Manganelli.
Jim’s UHU is scratch-built from Vance
Moser plans. It is molded balsa, plywood
and carbon-fiber construction, and powered
by two geared electric NeuMotors with 5200
mA Li-Polys. The airplane is finished with
Polycrylic over .75-ounce fiberglass and
latex paint. The completed weight is 22
pounds and the model includes functional
retracts and operating Ram navigation and
landing lights.

club meeting on July 21, 2005.
November 12, Jim Luster’s UHU He 219
showed up again at the San Diego County
Association of Model Club’s (SDCAMC)
annual Veteran’s Day Warbird Fly-in. This
fourth annual event was hosted by the First
Weedwacker Aero Squadron and held at the
club’s Cactus Park Field in Santee,
California.
Jim brought the He 219 to the San Diego
County Association’s annual Veteran’s Day
Warbird Fly-in.
Jerry Neuberger (L), District X associate
vice president, and SDCAMC past president
Frank Gagliardi kept things running
smoothly at the association’s fourth annual
Veteran’s Day fly-in.
Frank Gagliardi brought Jim McNerney’s
beautifully detailed BVM Navy T-33 to
please the crowd. Unfortunately Jim passed
away shortly before the event.
Gene Moore cooked up a steaming bowl of
homemade chili to take the chill off the
autumn weather and feed the hungry
Veteran’s Day crowd.
November 12-13, Eric Rule of RSM
Distributors sponsored and CDed the annual
Charles A. Mackey Open in Ramona,
California. The contest was conducted by
the San Diego Control Line Association
headed by Dave Sabon. Following two days
of perfect weather and much CL fun and
flying, Bob Whitely from Tucson, Arizona,
took first place in Classic.
Pictured are Charles Mackey (R) and Dave
Sabon (L) presenting Bob with the firstplace
award.
Till next time ... Keep ’em safe and Keep
’em fly’n.
