A modeler who was a proud AMA
supporter found a way to ensure that even
after his death, others could continue
to enjoy the sport. Robert “Bob” Bentley
achieved that by including the AMA as a
benefactor in his will.
Bob passed away on February 4, 2013,
at the age of 85. The AMA Foundation is
proud to welcome him as one of the fi rst
AMA Foundation Heritage and Legacy
Society members. His $10,000 contribution
to the general fund will assist with
benevolent programming and building
curriculums for AMA and aeromodeling.
Born March 23, 1928, in Greenwich,
Connecticut, Bob’s passion for model
aviation was sparked at age 10, and later
led to a 50-year career at Du-Bro Products,
where he was in charge of machine setup
for model airplane part production. Even
after his retirement, Du-Bro frequently
called and asked him for advice on new
products and applications.
Bob also served as president, board
member, and fi eld director of the Skylarks
RC Club of Illinois, and taught countless
pilots how to fly.
