Executive Director View HQ work members AS WE ENTER new year would like review some Academys services programs accomplishments 1997 will repeated 1998 Education 1 Hired full-time Education Coordinator 2 Continued relationship Indiana Academy Ball State University distance learning program electronic field trips about aeromodeling 3 Continued gathering educational programs exist making information available anyone interested 4 Financially supported youth programs such YES Youth Education Stipend 5 Most importantly reduced Youth Membership rate $1 got involved EAA Experimental Aircraft Association/AMA Air Academy Explored new ways increase income become less dependent dues 1 Purchased traveling trailer will allow us move site site selling merchandise will also have ability take various trade shows 2 Renovated AMAs farmhouse house merchandising HQ 3 Purchased equipment administered training will allow us custom embossing heat transfer garments bags hats Produced environmental video will made available chartered clubs obtaining flying sites Held successful Nationals Hosted first Grand Event Muncie site Installed new computer systems Made improvements Muncie site Constructed AMA web site Gave financial assistance clubs legal fees assistance sites Sanctioned 2400 events Participated five World Championships Free Flight Pylon Soaring Helicopter Radio Control Aerobatics Made constant improvements changes Model Aviation produce best publication possible total membership 1997 149700 listing doesnt include day-to-day operation site museum doesnt cover hours spent volunteer officers local issues committees work specialized area Academy made up 50 paid staff several hundred volunteers work members preserving place fly making sure flying done safe manner learning good neighbors preserving model aviation history good year hoped reduced price Youth membership increased marketing other areas increase membership 1998 have questions concerning programs events please dont hesitate write offer quality customer service members Grand Event 1998 Yes will happen again June 12-14 event will cover types model flying make-and-take buddy box flying open flying etc also once again Homecoming members sure mark calendar weekend fun demonstrations music cookout etc free AMA members Lets keep fingers crossed weather works favor year look forward seeing y flying Joyce Hager Executive Director 184 Model Aviation April 1998 184
