General Remarks
This month I am going to pass on a few thoughts regarding several items that are often overlooked. Some of these may be important to you and some may not. You can always skip the dull ones.
Returned Checks
We all slip up sometimes, but the results of a returned check can be devastating. You could be without insurance, and none of us want to fly in that situation. Bad checks also create extra work for people at AMA Headquarters. Help us keep costs at Headquarters down by being careful that the check you send is good.
Planned Giving
Giving to AMA is becoming more popular. Several people are arranging gifts that provide a tax deduction, guaranteed income for life, and a gift to AMA. If you want to know what this is all about, contact Joyce Hager at Headquarters or me at my office. My telephone number is listed above.
Early Renewals and Voting
For next year you might be able to schedule your renewal payment early. You get your card back quicker, it is easier for the staff at Headquarters to correct any mistakes that might happen, and you could vote all at the same time. Read your ballot material carefully. For a vice-presidential election, you vote only for a candidate in your district. Send ballots and renewals per instructions; they do not go to the same place. AMA needs people to run for office and people to vote. Be sure you do at least one of these.
Credit Card Use for Renewals
If you use a credit card that your spouse also uses, be sure he or she knows you used the card for that purpose. Many inquiries come to Headquarters when one spouse was unaware that the other had used the card to renew.
Financial Position
In 2003, AMA finished with a strong cash position. The audits are scheduled for the end of February 2004. Details will follow at a later date.
Make your life a mission, not an intermission.
Until later. Always be courteous.
