Big Weekend in Muncie
AMA Gala 2001 kicked off June 7, 2001, with the dedication of the Academy's new Headquarters administration building in Muncie, IN.
AMA members, Academy supporters, and local dignitaries turned out to witness the unveiling of the 25,000-foot facility. The building provides a first-class office environment for the 50+ Academy employees.
On Friday, June 8, the Academy hosted the Celebration of Eagles III, "A Gathering of Champions." This event paid tribute to several manufacturers whose contributions and longevity have propelled the sport of aeromodeling to become what it is today.
The tradition of Homecoming, held June 8–10, continued, coinciding with the fifth-annual Grand Event on Saturday, June 9. More than 2,200 people attended the two events.
Approximately 150 people participated in the AMA "Got Wings" flight-training program.
See the November Model Aviation for more information about this historic four-day event.

AMA Membership Dues / Ballot Mailing
In September, all current AMA members will receive a bill for dues with an attached ballot for voting in the 2001 election of officers.
You will still receive this mailing if your membership is earned or prepaid for 2002; it will indicate that no dues payment is required. The ballot is attached to the bottom of the renewal notice, and is to be mailed (postage-paid) to the address listed on the reverse side. Please do not mail your ballot to AMA Headquarters; if you do, your vote will not count.
Renewal notices are mailed with ample time to renew prior to the December 31 deadline of your current membership. Be sure to renew early to avoid a delay in receiving your 2002 license card.
AMA offers several ways to renew your membership. Visit our Web site and renew courtesy of the District VIII Web
