National Model Aviation Museum Tours
Tours of the museum (at 5151 E. Memorial Dr., Muncie IN) will be Monday through Friday at 2 p.m. except on holidays. Each tour will last approximately 45 minutes.
Curator Michael Smith or I will be guiding the tours at first; other employees and volunteers will be used as they are trained and needed.
A sign will be put up in the lobby informing visitors of the tours. The service was scheduled to begin September 4, 2001. MA

72MHz Channels
By letter dated June 29, 2001, Duane R. Terry, Chief, Public Safety and Private Wireless Division, confirmed that subject to Section 95.207 of the Code of Federal Regulations, "the Commission's Rules list the channels in the 72 MHz band that may only be used to operate a model aircraft device. Consequently, these channels may not be used to operate competitive robots."
This decision is predicated on the fact that robots are "surface craft" as defined in section 95.207(a)(2). Further, the letter stated that there is no indication of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) having granted a waiver for any reason.
At the present time our attorney, Martin Bercovici of Kellahan and Heckman, has requested that the FCC Enforcement Bureau "undertake efforts to terminate the unauthorized surface craft use of the 72 MHz model aircraft channels."
