AMA Membership Meetings
The annual AMA Membership Meeting
will be held in multiple locations in 2004.
These important events will be key
opportunities to meet your elected AMA
representatives and talk to staff about the
critical issues of the day.
Meetings will be held at the AMA
Convention in Ontario, California, in January;
the WRAM Show in White Plains, New York,
in February; the Toledo Show in Toledo,
Ohio, in April; AMA Homecoming in
Muncie, Indiana, in June; and the RCHTA
Show in Chicago, Illinois, in September.
The Toledo and Chicago meetings are
tentative pending finalization of
accommodations.
Go to the AMA Web site (www.model
aircraft.org) to learn more about these shows.

FCC Examines Broadband Over Power
Line Service (BPL)
The Federal Communications Commission
(FCC) has launched an inquiry into the
provision of broadband services through power
lines. This service would provide users with
the ability to connect to broadband services
(such as the Internet) by simply plugging a
BPL device into an electrical outlet.
Although AMA realizes the potential for
such a system, it is concerned that there may
be an interference issue for those who use
radio-control systems. BPL would use
frequencies in the 1.8 MHz to 80.0 MHz
range.
AMA is currently studying this issue to
determine the effect this could have on the
membership, and it is going to file a reply
comment with the FCC. Depending on the
outcome of this study, further action by the
AMA membership may be requested.

History Program Booth
The AMA History Program will have a
booth at the Southwestern Aeromodeling
Conference scheduled for October 3-4, 2003,
in Arlington, Texas. AMA is collecting
biographies of as many modelers as possible
and would like yours. You can drop off your
biography at the booth or pick up a packet that
will help you write it.
In January the History Program will have a
booth at the 2004 AMA Convention in
Ontario, California, so you modelers on the
West Coast get busy and help preserve the
history of our great hobby.
