Transition Model
Bill Hibbard (240 Bedford Way, Upland CA 91786) built this Sig Four-Star 40 to transition from a high-wing trainer to a low-wing aircraft.
He made a few simple modifications, including adding polyhedral in the wings as suggested by Franklin D. Taylor and his Hawk Wing. The covering is MonoKote®, and the canopy and landing gear are painted with LustreKote™. Power is an O.S. .40 SF, and the control system is an Airtronics Vanguard FM six-channel radio.
According to Bill, the model flies very well and does tight rolls and loops.
Kadet Senior
"With all of the 'kit bashing' going on ... concerning the Sig Kadet Senior, I thought I might as well send in my Sig Kadet Senior that was 'kit bashed' by a very good friend of mine from Youngstown OH by the name of Sonny Misciaska," wrote Zach Allerton (RR 3 Box 48, Volant PA 16156; E-mail: [email protected]).
According to Zach, Sonny loves building airplanes and can complete one similar to this in a week to 10 days.

Simple Flier
"Many people, including myself, love the way Simple Flier flies on the RealFlight® simulator by Great Planes," wrote Alexandre Koliyanov (1635 Hemingway Ln., Iowa City IA 52240; E-mail: [email protected]).
Alexandre had wanted to build one for some time and decided to go for it. He designed, built, and flew the prototype in five days.
The model is of all-wood construction. It is a very stable and fast flier, powered by an O.S. .46 FX.

Pair of Warbirds
Dan Payne's (3875 Arlington Dr., San Bernardino CA 92404; E-mail: DpandDMaol.com) P-51 (right) is powered by an O.S. .91 four-stroke engine and is covered with MonoKote®.
Scott Workman's (3316 N. D St., San Bernardino CA 92405) Spitfire is powered by an O.S. .61 two-stroke and was painted with LustreKote™.
Both models were built from TopFlite® Gold Edition kits, equipped with Robart retracts, operating flaps, and Futaba radios. The picture was taken at Rabbit Dry Lake in Lucerne Valley CA.
"Kimber Bee"
Kim Ferreri's (96 Public Sq., Leitchfield KY 42754) husband built this model for her to learn to fly with. It is an Extended Lazy Bee powered by a Norvel .15 engine. Her husband calls it the "Kimber Bee."
"I am very proud of it," Kim wrote.

The Dart
This Lanier airplane is Daniel Yi's (2219 Jardine Ave., North Las Vegas NV 89032; E-mail: [email protected]) second model; his first was a Tiger trainer.
The Dart was designed for a .40- to .60-size engine, but Daniel opted for an O.S. 91 FX.

According to Daniel, the Dart is extremely fast and has awesome vertical capabilities. "My thoughts at the time were, 'If you're going to do it, do it to excess!'" wrote Daniel. "My main goals are to improve my flying skills with this airplane and to learn to fully take advantage of its power."
A Stinger
Dick Haven (18982 Jean Rd., Mokena IL 60448) built this 120 Stinger. Shown with him and the model is his grandson, Dustin Haven.

Maule M-5
This 1/4-scale Maule is the third one M.H. Pickard (7089 Goodview Rd., Goodview VA 24095) has built. His first, which was scratch-built, was on the cover of the January 1982 Model Aviation.
This model is from an Ikon N'west kit. It has a Zenoah G-38 engine, weighs 18 pounds, and has working lights.
"The photo of a Highway Patrol airplane was given to me by Mr. Maule at the factory in 1983 when I showed them my 1/4-scale Maule," wrote M.H.
