JS: How did you get involved with model
aviation?
NM: My father has been fl ying RC since
he was my age, and at a young age (4)
started to teach me to fl y. At the age of
10 I started fl ying RC helicopters.
JS: How has model aviation impacted
your life and/or career?
NM: RC is not only my primary
hobby and interest, but it has also
become my career. In 2009, I started
working full time as a professional RC
demo pilot and consultant for several
manufacturers.
JS: In what disciplines of modeling do you
currently participate?
NM: I compete in 3-D helicopter and
F3C helicopter, but previously [I]
fl ew RC Pylon racing, and fun-fl y 3-D
airplanes.
JS: What are your other hobbies?
NM: I also enjoy storm chasing,
snowmobiling, and playing tennis.
JS: Who (or what) has in uenced you
most?
NM: A few people have really helped
me stay having fun and doing my best
in the hobby—my parents for one, and
also some really good friends who have
helped a lot in general. Just to name a
few, Bob Brown, Jason Russell, and Ben
Minor are all people who not only are
friends outside of just fl ying but have
offered a lot of their knowledge and
experience to help things go in the right
direction with models, and other things
as well.
JS: What advice would you give someone
looking to take his or her helicopter ying
skills to the next level?
NM: The biggest thing is not to rush the
simple things just to get past the basics
faster, and also just burn a lot of fuel and
batteries.
