Introduction
The 74th National Aeromodeling Championships (the "Nats") marks the fifth year that the Outdoor events have been flown at AMA's International Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, IN, on the 1,000+ acre site. They were held July 7–August 3.
Indoor Free Flight events took place May 31–June 4 in the East Tennessee State University Mini-Dome in Johnson City.
As in past years, approximately 20 Special Interest Groups (SIGs) recognized by AMA were responsible for the administration and execution of their respective events.
More than 1,300 registered participants took part in the Nats—approximately the same number as last year. Competitors came from all 50 states and several countries, including Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Portugal, and England.

Current AMA membership is the only requirement for participation in the Nats; no prior qualification or participation in other events is necessary.
