Composite-ARF

Composite-ARF is a company that exclusively produces all-composite airframes. Fifteen years of composite experience allows the firm to design and produce model airplanes in high-tech composites that are lightweight and strong. Composite-ARF sells direct to customers around the world, without distributor and dealer margins. The five U.S. sales representatives support order procedure and provide after-sales service.

Experienced contest pilots are involved in the design and improvement of all products. Typical Composite-ARF kits consist of vacuum-bagged fiberglass sandwich parts with Kevlar and carbon reinforcements where they belong, and they are painted in various color schemes in the molds. All aerodynamic design is well proven in various contest activities. The prefabrication of kits is carried out to the point where the customer only needs to install engine and radio components.

The newest addition is a Yak-55SP with a 2.6-meter wingspan. Its ready-to-fly weight is less than 26 pounds. Its bigger brother, which has a 3.3-meter span (150–200cc), has been marketed for a year.

The Yak-55SP is a long-tail-arm midwing design with neutral aerobatic characteristics; no knife-edge mixing is required. A 100cc engine will power the airplane through all current IMAC maneuvers. Extremely large control surfaces and a low wing loading allow all imaginable 3-D maneuvers.

The Composite-ARF Yak-55SP 2.6m is available in three color schemes. The 3.3m version is available in six color schemes.

GyroBee/LazyBee ARF Autogyro/Airplane "Convertible"

GyroBee/LazyBee ARF Autogyro/Airplane "Convertible" — $325 Autogyro Company of Arizona, 3307 W. Renee Dr., Phoenix, AZ 85027; Toll-free orders: (888) 783-0101; Tel: (623) 582-9428; Web: www.autogyro-rc.com.

The Autogyro Company of Arizona's first ARF autogyro features the fixed-wing LazyBee ARF and the GyroBee ARF autogyro module together. This gives the pilot two aircraft types in one box. The complete ARF combo flies as an airplane and as an autogyro.

The ARF fuselage is shared with the ARF autogyro pylon module and the ARF wing. The pilot decides which configuration to fly at any given time. The GyroBee/LazyBee is especially suited for small-field operation. This fun-to-fly autogyro/airplane convertible captures a whimsical, retro look typical of aircraft in the early 1930s.

The well-known LazyBee airplane has been a favorite of many RC fixed-wing pilots for years. Flown in the autogyro configuration, the GyroBee design has proven so stable and forgiving that it makes an autogyro trainer that is stable and easy to fly, even for the first-time gyro flier.

At the field, removing the wing from the LazyBee ARF airplane and placing the GyroBee ARF conversion module in its place only takes a few minutes and does not require any balance changes to the airframe, trim adjustments, or radio modifications. This craft uses any simple four-channel radio—no mixing required—and any power plant/propeller combination that produces 3+ pounds of static thrust, including electric. Recommended power plants: 30–40 four-stroke engine, .25 two-stroke engine, or a brushless electric motor.

Included in the combination ARF GyroBee/LazyBee:

  • Built and covered fuselage
  • Wing
  • Rotor blades (static balanced)
  • Rotor pylon
  • Two types of landing gear
  • Rotor bearing assembly
  • Elastomeric flapping head plate
  • Two assembly/flying manuals
  • Laser-plotted plans sheet
  • Wheels and all other finishing hardware

You furnish the radio and engine/motor.
