Fiber Fusion-based Extra
260 @ $189.99 from
Atlantahobby.com, 6150
Parkway North Dr., Cumming GA
30040; Tel./Fax: (678) 513-4450; E-mail:
[email protected]; Web site:
www.atlantahobby.com.
Atlantahobby.com will be the exclusive
distribution point for the new Fiber Fusionbased
Extra 260 from Precision
Aerobatics.
The new Extra is the third design from
Precision Aerobatics that features the
revolutionary Fiber Fusion building
technique. Fiber Fusion is a method of
combining carbon fiber, balsa, and
plywood in a way that has never been
seen before, using the strengths of the
fibers within each raw material. The result
is a lighter, stronger, more rigid aircraft.
This model, which is available in three
striking colors, is unlike any other in the
category and has many unique and
advanced features. It sports a fully airfoiled
tail section and two-piece removable wings
with carbon fiber everywhere, making it
extremely strong. The Kevlar pull-pull
rudder system is fully assembled at the
factory.
The aileron design and construction is
made in such a way that the hinge gap is
completely sealed. This hinge
arrangement is quite complex to produce;
the ailerons fit “into” the wing TE tunnels
and are glued and aligned at the factory,
similar to on a Giant Scale airplane. The
production of the ailerons in this way
allows perfect aerodynamic flow over the
airfoil and results in maximum efficiency of
the control surfaces.
The Extra 260’s light weight and large
wing area makes for a favorable power-toweight
ratio when using the suggested
Torque 2818/900 motor.
Specifications: wingspan, 48 inches;
length, 43 inches; weight AUW, 33.7
ounces; wing area, approximately 490
square inches; wing loading, roughly 9.9
ounces/square foot

maneuverability. The fully proportional,
super-lightweight servo motors with
feedback potentiometers provide precise
control. A single-cell Li-Poly charger
conveniently charges the battery in only
15-20 minutes.
