This is the latest in Great Planes' series of Cosmic Wind sport racer ARFs. Designed for intermediate-level pilots, the Minnow is an RC replica of the Formula One competitor first introduced in 1949, and it flies as scale as it looks.
With its quality materials and ARF construction, the Minnow is a superb everyday sport airplane as well as a peerless pylon racer!
Features include a fiberglass fuselage, a midmounted symmetrical wing that offers excellent flight performance at low and high speeds, a steerable tail wheel, smoothly faired pushrod exits, and a roomy radio compartment that allows for easy installation of all onboard gear.
Assembly can take as few as 12-15 hours. The sheeted, built-up balsa/plywood wing halves and tail surfaces are precovered in MonoKote, and the fiberglass fuselage, cowl, wheel pants, and aluminum landing gear arrive factory-painted to match. A clear canopy, an scale aluminum spinner, decals, and Great Planes hardware are supplied.
This 63-inch (1600mm)-wingspan model is IMAA-legal. It has a wing area of 775 square inches (50dm2) and an expected weight of 7.25-8.25 pounds (3.3-3.7kg), which puts the wing loading between 21.5 and 24.5 ounces per square foot (65-75g/dm2). The overall length is 67.5 inches (1580mm).
The model requires a two-stroke .61-.91 (10-15cc) or four-stroke .91 (15cc) engine and a four-channel radio with five servos.
The fiberglass wheel pants simply slip over the axles and secure with two screws. Each aileron has its own servo, mounted inside the wing for a sleek appearance and to reduce drag.
