JR NEX E6-550
HELI COMBO
Roth Heyes helped us with the review
of the JR NEX E6-550. Here is what he
had to say:
The convenience of the smaller
electric machines fi ts easily into my
chaotic lifestyle, but my experience so
far has shown that bigger helicopters can
offer greater performance. Larger helis
also demand a greater investment. What
if you want to take your helicopter fl ying
to the next level, but want to do it in
a practical way without sacrifi cing any
quality or fl ight fulfi llment?
The JR NEX E6-550 seems to be
the answer—even better, it’s the heli
experience I never knew I wanted. You
get many of the practical benefi ts that
smaller electric helis enjoy, such as using
a popular battery that I happen to have
for other aircraft, and from what I’ve
learned it has the 3-D performance
many rave about having in their 600- or
700-class helicopter.
On the same LiPo battery investment,
I can fl y the JR NEX E6-550 twice
doing 3-D and big maneuvers that
compare equally on a hard-core 3-D
playground with the larger helis. It feels
as though my investment in a highquality
helicopter is paying me back
with performance that’s really making a
difference in my skills as an RC pilot.
Like most popular large-class electric
helicopters, the E6-550 is equipped with
a torque-tube-driven tail with dualbearing
support. JR engineering comes
into play where this machine starts to
stand out. Upon a lightweight carbonfi
ber frame are all-metal fl ybarless

The servo mounting system is unique

wide range of 6S LiPo fl ight pack sizes
from 2,600 up to 5,000-mAh capacities,
which can probably suit nearly any
budget, fl ight time, or performance
requirement.
If you’ve built a few helicopters
in the past, then you’ve learned that
performance has much to do with
the radio, servos, power system, and
fl ybarless gyro installed. This is where
JR breaks new ground and takes away
the guesswork of building a highperformance
helicopter by offering a
combo package.
You can buy the JR E6-550 as a kit
with only the carbon main and tail rotor
blades if you want; however, to enjoy
the outstanding fl ight experience I did,
then you need to get the JR E6-550
combo package complete with a highspeed
brushless outrunner motor, fully
programmed 75-amp ESC, triple-axes
gyros system (also preprogrammed),
three digital fl ybarless servos, and the
popular G3500 mini tail rotor servo.
Every bolt, every anodized metal
part, every wire and gear—genuine JR
quality! All I had to provide was my
radio and battery. The helicopter was
simple to assemble. JR’s reputation for
engineering and quality stands strong in
my book.

is stepped on. The transformer passes
a safe, low-voltage electrical current
through the part, heating it to soldering
temperature in seconds. The solder is
applied and the foot switch is released,
instantly cooling the tool. The result is a
strong, durable joint.
The unit includes a 63-watt
three-

joint and heating larger work than will a
conventional soldering iron at the same
power. Dual-power outputs for heavy or
lightweight parts, a handpiece, six carbon
electrodes, a ground lead, on/off foot
switch, and instructions are also included.

Micro-Mark, Tel.: (800) 225-1066;
website: www.micromark.com.
The new MicroLux Resistance
Soldering Unit from Micro-Mark is easy
to use, generating heat only at the joint.
Parts that have already been soldered
won’t fall off when adding new ones.
With the ground clip connected,
the carbon electrode on the tip of the
handpiece is placed in contact with the
part to be soldered, and the foot switch

joint and heating larger work than will a
conventional soldering iron at the same
power. Dual-power outputs for heavy or
lightweight parts, a handpiece, six carbon
electrodes, a ground lead, on/off foot
switch, and instructions are also included.

of the JR NEX E6-550. Here is what he

The JR NEX E6-550 seems to be

Every bolt, every anodized metal
part, every wire and gear—genuine JR
quality! All I had to provide was my
radio and battery. The helicopter was
simple to assemble. JR’s reputation for
engineering and quality stands strong in
my book.

MicroLux Resistance Soldering
Unit @ $169.95 + S&H from
Micro-Mark, Tel.: (800) 225-1066;
website: www.micromark.com.
The new MicroLux Resistance
Soldering Unit from Micro-Mark is easy
to use, generating heat only at the joint.
Parts that have already been soldered
won’t fall off when adding new ones.
With the ground clip connected,
the carbon electrode on the tip of the
handpiece is placed in contact with the
part to be soldered, and the foot switch
is stepped on. The transformer passes
a safe, low-voltage electrical current
through the part, heating it to soldering
temperature in seconds. The solder is
applied and the foot switch is released,
instantly cooling the tool. The result is a
strong, durable joint.
The unit includes a 63-watt
three-
transformer, concentrating heat at the
joint and heating larger work than will a
conventional soldering iron at the same
power. Dual-power outputs for heavy or
lightweight parts, a handpiece, six carbon
electrodes, a ground lead, on/off foot
switch, and instructions are also included.
