HD Helicopters CELL 500 DBDS Electric Helicopter @ $649-$699 + S&H from Prestige RC, 730 Eastern Ave., Unit 096, Malden MA 02148; Tel.: (866) 441-5537; www.prestige-rc.com
HD Helicopters is proud to announce the development of its high-end 500-class 3-D helicopter: the HD CELL 500 DBDS. With the goal of setting and raising the bar in the market of RC helicopters, the HD CELL 500 DBDS was constructed with efficient, yet weight-saving, components.
Based on a high-strength aluminum frame with optimized torsional stiffness and minimum weight, this helicopter features a Direct Belt Drive System (DBDS) with a new rotor head design. Precisely manufactured, lightweight aluminum belt wheels are combined with an 18mm belt for high quality and smooth and silent operation.
Three bearing blocks for the main rotor shaft and a contra bearing on the engine ensure no loss of torque and maximum power on the main drive. The innovative but simple belt-tension unit was designed to guarantee a tight tail belt under all conditions.
The engine and ESC block feature additional cooling ribs for more efficient heat dissipation. Designed for 465mm up to 500mm blades, the HD 500 CELL DBDS makes it possible to install a 48.9mm motor; 4S to 6S LiPo batteries are mounted upside down, enabling an optimized CG adjustment.
The HD 500 CELL DBDS is available as the heli only or in a combo package with a Quantum 4120-1,100 Kv motor. Distributed in the US by Prestige RC, it is available through select US hobby dealers.
AnyLink2 2.4GHz Radio Adapter @ $34.99 + S&H from Hobbico, 3002 N. Apollo Dr., Suite #1, Champaign IL 61822; Tel.: (800) 637-7660; website: www.tacticrc.com
AnyLink revolutionized the way radios were converted to 2.4 GHz SLT. Tactic now takes that idea one step further with the AnyLink2 by increasing the model’s range, simplifying setup, adding an internal power source, and reducing the number and complexity of cables needed.
AnyLink2 gives a modeler full range to confidently control aircraft even at long ranges. No external batteries or adapters are needed with the built-in power source. Transmitter mapping is made easy with the push of one button to select the transmitter brand.
It only takes one headphone-jack-style wire to link the AnyLink2 to most radios. Three cables are included and are compatible with many popular JR, Spektrum, Graupner, Futaba, Hitec, Walkera, and Airtronics transmitters. A transmitter handle mounting clamp securely fastens the AnyLink2 to radio handles.
No extra wires, no hassles. The included 1S LiPo battery fits inside the AnyLink2 and provides two hours of flying time per charge. Using the included charger, it takes less than a half hour to recharge.
Scorpion High Performance Tools @ $4.99-$11.99 + S&H from Innov8tive Designs, 1495 Poinsettia Ave., Suite 144, Vista CA 92081; Tel.: (760) 468-8838; website: www.innov8tivedesigns.com
Scorpion High-Performance Tools are designed with RC enthusiasts in mind! Featuring lightweight, hollow, CNC-machined handles that go through a two-step plating process, the head button on the handle spins so that the tools are comfortable to palm and apply pressure as screws or nuts are tightened. The tools feature replaceable tips. If one accidentally breaks or is worn out, the handle can be reused and only the tip replaced.
Eight standard styles are available: four hex drivers in 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, and 3.0mm sizes; two socket nut drivers in 5.5mm and 7.0mm sizes; a 4.0mm flat screwdriver; and a 5.0mm (#1) Phillips screwdriver.
Mini Tools have been introduced to the line and feature a slightly shorter handle and short, stubby socket tips for reaching into tight spaces. They are available in three sizes: 4.0mm socket nut driver (for M2 nuts); 5.5mm socket nut driver (for M3 nuts); and 7.0mm socket nut driver (for M4 nuts).
Evolution 62GXI 62cc Gas Engine @ $579.99+ S&H from Horizon Hobby, 4105 Fieldstone Rd., Champaign IL 61822; Tel.: (800) 338-4639; website: www.evolutionengines.com
Giant Scale and multiengine airplane enthusiasts looking for a great single-cylinder gas engine will be thrilled with the new Evolution 62Gxi engine with SureFire electronic fuel injection. Simple to set up and maintain, pilots will never have to touch a needle valve with this engine.
The SureFire EFI electronic fuel injection technology combines finely tuned software and sophisticated sensors so the engine gets the perfect flow of fuel regardless of where or what is flown. The compact electronic ignition and SureFire system run on one 7.4-volt LiPo to save weight and simplify installation.
