Flyzone L-39 Receiver-Ready Brushless EDF Jet @ $179.99 + S&H from Hobbico, 3002 N. Apollo Dr., Ste. #1, Champaign IL 61822; Tel.: (800) 637-7660; website: www.flyzoneplanes.com
Joining the “jet set” has never been easier with the Flyzone L-39. Power comes from the combination of an ElectriFly HyperFlow 56mm ducted-fan unit driven by an Ammo brushless inrunner motor. Ducting was optimized, producing cleaner airflow and allowing for stronger takeoffs and higher speeds—speeds greater than 90 mph are just a fingertip away.
Assembly is easy enough for a beginner to do, but flying requires an experienced pilot. The molded airframe features factory-finished AeroCell foam. The realistic cockpit has twin instrument panels and two painted pilot figures.
Magnets on the canopy ensure a strong bond, but can quickly be separated for battery pack changes or maintenance. Tip tanks are magnetically attached for realism, but break free during rough landings to prevent damage.
The servos, 35-amp ESC, ducted-fan unit, and inrunner brushless motor are all factory installed. The aileron servo and pushrods are included and factory installed. A four-channel radio, micro receiver, and a 4S 2,200 mAh LiPo battery pack are required to complete the L-39.
50cc Extra 330 Ghost Scheme @ $569 + S&H from RedwingRC, Tel.: (636) 675-0047; website: www.redwingrc.com
RedwingRC wants pilots to be creative and gives them reign to do so with the new 50cc Extra 330 Ghost Scheme. Leave it as it is, or design custom graphics, turning the airplane into a work of art.
The Extra 330 Ghost is equipped with the same great features as RedwingRC’s other 50cc models. With an 88.97-inch wingspan and all-up flying weight of 16.4 pounds, it includes a removable stabilizer, ringed cowl, adjustable pushrods, and carbon-fiber landing gear and accessories. The canister-ready aircraft can quickly be ready for the air because of its easy-build features, including predrilled hinges, a preplumbed fuel tank, and a preinstalled rudder cable. Side-force generators are also included.
The Red Deal Combo is available with the Extra 330 Ghost Scheme and includes the airplane, three pairs of 6-inch extensions, two pairs of 12-inch extensions, one pair of 18-inch extensions, a 3,000 mAh LiFe battery, and two large switches, with options for the motor, servos, and propeller size. See the RedwingRC website for more details.
