RADIO CONTROL ELECTRICS
Bob Kopski, 25 West End Dr., Lansdale PA 19446
THIS MONTH I'll open with a typical column closing (because some readers never seem to make it that far). Please include an SASE with any correspondence for which you'd like a reply. Everyone so doing does get one! And no, I do not use E-mail for this purpose!
This column offers one meet announcement, one Electric Connection Service (ECS), follow-up on the "Ultimate Conversion," new-product info, and a return to the basic beginners' discussions.
Don McGillivray wrote to tell about an Electric Fly-In to be held in Cape Coral, Florida, October 18-19, 2002. The Cape Coral R/Sea Hawks is sponsoring the fly-in, and it includes open flying and several fun events. Ten bucks covers the whole weekend, and for this you get a 500-foot concrete runway, grass on a large and open field, and other nice stuff. Tailgate swappers and primitive overnight stays are okay!
Get in touch with Don, the contest director, at (239) 481-0063 or [email protected] for all the details, and to tell him Bob sent ya!
George Scrimshaw, 1586 Regent Dr., Brentwood CA 94513, has recently moved to this location from the Monterey area and is seeking E-others nearby. George tells me he's been flying Radio Control (RC) since 1970 and E-power since 1988.
The RIGrunner 4005 is a 12-volt distribution box by West Mountain Radio. It permits easy hookup of multiple chargers and such to a single source.
Please do get in touch with George and share in the joy that E-flying can bring to all!
Last month's column described the E-conversion of a 1970s-era wet Pattern airplane by reader Bill Smith of Hazleton, Pennsylvania. Bill belongs to the Tuscarora R/C Club which flies in the Tuscarora State Park roughly 20 minutes from Hazleton.
The club flies mostly wet power, but several members fly E-power as well—the latter mostly with Zagi's. Bill is the only 100% E-flier, but he's got a zillion or so E-craft, which makes up for his singularity! (I remember what that feels like!)
You can check out the club at www.f-tec.net/tuscrc. The site includes a field map, so you can visit and check things out for yourself.
In last month's discussion of Bill's conversion (renamed "3rd E"), I referred to it as the "Ultimate Conversion"—until something else comes along laying claim to that entitlement. This is a reminder
