Chris Reibert ([email protected]) from Macedon, New York, submitted this photo of his RC Aerodyne Bell 206 Jet Ranger. Chris wrote:

“I have been in the hobby since I was just six years old. I grew up next to a private airplane field so I used to watch planes fly over my house as young as I could remember. Flying is in my blood. I got into helicopters in the mid-’90s with [a] Lite Machines 110 thanks to Ray Stacy, and have been hooked ever since. I really enjoy flying 3-D, but also like to relax and fly my Scale birds.”

The Jet Ranger is a Chaos 600 stretched to a 700, with a Scorpion HK 4025 1000 Kv motor, Align 610 cyclic servos and 620 tail servos, a BeastX three-axes AR7200bx gyro, and a Castle Creations HV100 ESC and BEC Pro. Chris uses a Thor 22.2-volt 6S 5000 mAh 35C LiPo, and gets five to six minutes of flight. The heli features hinged front doors that open, a full cockpit with instruments and seats, and cable cutters.

“Seeing something that big fly around the field is truly a sight to see,” Chris noted. “It carries so much field presence and is a sure hit to draw a crowd anytime it is in the air. I have taken it to over seven events this summer, both airplane and helicopter, and it gets the crowd on its feet and their cameras in the air.”

Model Aviation Assistant Editor Jennifer Orebaugh took this photo in September 2012, during the Northeast Helicopter Jamboree at the Rochester AeroModeling Society (RAMS) field in Macedon. Using a Nikon D3100 with a 300mm focal length, the image was shot in Shutter Priority mode with an f-stop of f/6.3 at 1/250 second and an ISO of 100.
