This stick and strip cutter is built from a piece of 6/4 oak, which is actually 1 1/4 inches thick when it's finished (other hardwoods would be fine, but do not use pine or softwoods). The example is eight inches wide and 10 1/2 inches long after the ends have been squared and the edges have been trued. Any piece of wood that finishes to at least 7 1/2 inches wide and about one foot long will do for this project. The hardware to use consists of two three-inch drywall screws, three two-inch hanger screws, three 3/16 wing nuts, six flat washers that are 3/16 in diameter, and about six inches of 1/16 music wire. The blade is a common single-edge injector blade that is sold in dispensers at your local drugstore.
