Micro-Flying
HELLO, FRIENDS. This has been a busy cycle with a great deal of good information. The Toledo show and indoor flying at the Bowling Green facility will be covered by special features, no doubt, but a couple of highlights caught my eye that I want to share. FOR QUITE A few years I have enjoyed flying medium-size sport aerobatic models. These are usually powered with .25-size engines and are quite agile. RC Turbo Sport
Turbo Sport was conceived in response to the design contest sponsored by SGI Inc., the distributors of the Turbo Twin RC system. I chose to enter the division that allowed the removal of the equipment from the plastic housing, but no modifications to the circuits themselves. The resulting model has been so well received by my fellow modelers that I felt compelled to share the fun with as many others as possible. I first became aware of the Turbo RC system when I saw it advertised in Model Aviation as a package, for a very low price - especially considering the features. I placed my order promptly and when the package arrived I was further impressed by the obvious quality of this equipment and the ease of removing the motors and electronics from the airborne unit.

HAVE YOU been searching for that "just right" new model project? How about a spiffy-looking sport model with scale-like lines that is quick to build? Are you attracted to compact models that transport easily and use little fuel? How about true school-yard performance with minimum noise? Or complete aerobatics ability for the hotshot with gentle behavior for the novice? Of course any new design should also be compatible with the popular four-stroke engines. Quite a shopping list, wouldn't you say? Obviously, it seems like way too many features for any one design. That may have been true in the past, but now there is the Playmate. This model was designed and developed purely for recreation, using modern technology and blended with a nostalgic flavor-both in appearance and materials. It is suitable for both advanced and novice pilots depending mainly on choice of the engine.

There is a great love of model biplanes, but too few are built because of rigging difficulties, etc. This model for a three channel radio and plain bearing type .25 engine avoids these problems and has great aerobatic abilities. Known for its simple construction, great three channel performance, and sporty, realistic appearance, my popular sport-flying Pronto captures the very essence of fun.
