Far-out Use of RC
THIS IS THE STORY of how I used my skills and knowledge gained from years of modeling to carry out some engineering research in a most efficient way. I have been flying RC Sailplanes for over 13 years, but this was among the most challenging and unique uses of RC that I've run across. The story began about two years ago when I was a graduate student at Stanford University in northern California. I was beginning to plan my dissertation, and I approached my advisor for some advice. He suggested that I investigate the subject of damping.
