The 11th Annual Joe Nall Giant Scale Fly-In: RC Heaven and Southern Hospitality in Greenville, South Carolina
Go down Smith road, through the big iron gates, and you are in RC heaven! (Well, it's true.) The largest International Miniature Aircraft Association (IMAA) event held in the southeastern US took place May 13-16. More than 260 pilots registered with some 350 aircraft. In some places, models were spread out two and three deep along the flight line. (You can imagine what it was like trying to get a frequency pin.)
Joe Nall Giant Scale Fly-In
BEAUTIFUL South Carolina weather smiled on us for three gorgeous days of flying. The 10th annual Joe Nall Giant Scale Fly-In, held May 15-17, 1992, was the largest International Miniature Aircraft Association (IMAA) event ever held in the South. In fact, the fly-in is second only to the largest IMAA event-the IMAA Rally of Giants, held annually at different locations throughout the United States. The setting for this well-attended event was Hartness Field, Greenville, South Carolina. Each year Pat Hartness, owner and host, opens the big iron gates to his 400-acre estate and allows spectators and pilots complete freedom to wander about taking in the wonders of the place.
