Radio Control: Helicopters
Welcome back. I've got several things to cover this month, so let's just jump in and take them one at a time. Airtronics Infinity 1000H heli radio: If you've been flying RC helicopters for any length of time, you've had some experience with a dedicated RC helicopter radio system. I've been flying RC helicopters since 1976, and started with an American RC Revolution that I attempted to steer with a brown-box Futaba, which was state of the art at the time.

I'M GLAD to be back with you again. I hope all of you have been getting in enough building and flying. I have three new ships under construction and can't seem to find enough time to finish everything, what with the demands from my business and family. I always look forward to a break, and whenever it looks like I'm going to have one, I plan to attend a meet or fun-fly just to hang out with the guys and decompress. Everything worked out for me, and I was able to jump in the "old Cessna" and fly to Merced in September to take part in the fly-in. I saw a lot of good stuff there.
World 1992 F3J Inter Glide
DO YOU remember reading the CIAM reports in Model Aviation last spring that indicated that F3J is now an official event? This means that another glider event, in addition to F3B, now has World Championship status. Never having flown an F3J contest, I was thrilled to learn that the English were hosting an international contest precisely when Carolyn and I planned to take a vacation in England. Everything worked out, and I was able to participate in Interglide '92-which proved to be both a fun and educational contest. Before I talk about the contest, let me explain the task briefly.

THIS IS A DIFFICULT COLUMN for me to write, but as they say, all things must pass, and so it is that the time has come to pass this column to another dedicated scribe. Next month Paul Tradelius will be the new Helicopter columnist for Model Aviation. I hope all of you appreciate the commitment Paul has made to ensure that Model Aviation has the finest up-to-date helicopter column available to the RC helicopter enthusiast. Many of you are pondering and perhaps asking why the change. The truth of the matter is that when I accepted the responsi bilities of this column in 1983, I had no idea I would be writing it 10 years later. During the last 10 years, my life has changed drastically, and I am sure yours has as well.
RC Helicopters at the Mac Show
The Model and Craft Show is significant among the trade shows in that it offers a unique setting for helicopter manufacturers to show their products while also featuring outside flying demonstrations. The 1980 show was held April 26-27 at Long Beach Convention Center. The Convention Center is well suited for our needs; the hall is large and comfortable. Outside flying demonstrations are flown over a picturesque lagoon complete with three islands. The audience has an elevated viewing location which gives them a good but safe place to watch the show. Flying demonstrations are a tradition at this show, and the people respond by coming out to see the helicopters. Three times each day the pilots take their machines out and show their abilities and skills.
