2007 HAS BEEN a busy year for the AMA
District I officers, AMA clubs, and members
who partnered with us to host four districtsponsored
fun-fly and air show events.
The venue of free, open fun-fly events
and varying specialty events, coupled with
air show performances by many of the
district’s celebrity builders and fliers,
continues to attract and provide enjoyment
for the spectators and pilots who attend.
Nearly every category of aircraft and flying
style were flown and exhibited during the
course of this year’s events.
The district officers and I had the
opportunity to talk with and fly with AMA
members from throughout the region.
Coming together at district-sponsored events
for friendship, flying, and fun is the best
way to promote aeromodeling.
The district officers and I want to thank
all the clubs and their members who elected
to host the district events; set up and prepare
their sites; acquire raffle items and sell
tickets; park cars and act as safety officers;
cook and serve food; announce the
performances; and take down the tents and
clean the sites after the events.
Special thanks to the following clubs and
club presidents: Chris D’Arpino and the
South Shore RC Club for hosting the Light
Wings Electric Fly-In; Bruce Fortin and the
Woodstock RC Flyers for hosting the
Summer Fun-Fly and Air Show; Tim Adams
and the Wintonbury Flying Club for hosting
the Electric Fun-Fly and Airshow; and Bob
D’Angelo and the Wachusetts Barnstormers
for hosting the Fall Fun-Fly and Airshow.
In future columns I plan to include more
photos from the district-sponsored events.
If your club would like to host a district
event in 2008, please contact me or one of
the district associate vice presidents.
Happy New Year from the entire District I
team.
