I ATTENDED the Charlotte Aeromodelers’
Cub Scout Day August 5, 2006. Activities
such as this are important as outreach
programs in the community and equally
important to the club membership and club
sustainability. John Metcalf, 2006 club
president, wrote about the event.
“We had more than 90 Scouts, leaders,
parents, and club members by the end of the
day. We received more than $800 in
donations to make help the event a success.
Donations came from Warco Construction,
Korben Homes, Sig Manufacturing, KC
Hobbies, and the Charlotte Aeromodelers.
“Steve Hudson, a longtime member of
the club, was instrumental in planning and
organizing this event and without the
support of club members who donated their
time and energy it would not have been
successful.
“The feedback we received from the
Scouts, their leaders, and their parents was
tremendous. From their perspective, the
event exceeded their expectations. We will
put this on our annual August calendar as a
standing activity.”
The Central Carolina R/C Club was
presented with a District IV flag at the AMA
membership meeting held during the 2006
Joe Nall event. With a membership of
approximately 120, the club received the
honor for having attained Gold Leader Club
status for the past five years.
Located in the Triad Area of North
Carolina, south of High Point, the club’s
interests include Sailplanes, electrics, sport
models, helicopters, and Giant Scale
aircraft. The Gold Leader Club plaque from
AMA was awarded to the club at its annual
open house where the flag was again
presented.
Bliss Teague (L), Jay Marsh, club vice
president Robert Still, and club president
Tom Stapleton display the District IV flag.
