HAVE YOU ever wondered what a past
district vice president does with his time?
One Chuck Foreman is working with the
Coast Guard. He is involved in the
emergency-and-rescue work they do night
and day. They were even on patrol during
the Festival of Flight at Kitty Hawk, North
Carolina, in 2003.
Although the hours are sometimes long
and hard, Chuck says he enjoys it. I guess it
keeps him out of trouble.
He does not get off work for bad weather.
When a call comes in they go, whatever the
situation and regardless of how hot, cold,
sunny, or rainy it is.
That’s dedication and I’m sure the people
they help surely appreciate them.
Here are a few pictures of their drills and
rescue efforts.
The Caldwell Aeromodelers Inc. held its
annual fly-in June 24, 2006. This year the
members decided to include a program
called Animals for Alex in honor of Bliss
and Shirley Teague’s grandson who
succumbed to cancer when he was 14.
There have been a number of Animals for
Alex drives to collect stuffed animals to be
given to children by the EMTs, police,
firemen, sheriffs department, and highway
patrol officers. The animals collected are
placed on Alex’s grave for one day and then
given to the proper officials for distribution.
A number of the stuffed animals have
gone to children who are victims of
Hurricane Katrina and some have been sent
to children in Iraq. This effort started small
and has grown to enormous proportions.
During the fly-in, many of the spectators
brought stuffed animals for the cause so
most went to various organizations in
Caldwell County. The animals collected and
those bought with the entry fees totaled
approximately 600. Hopefully these will help
make a lot of children happy.

Until next time, go teach a kid to fly!
