THE CATAWBA VALLEY R/C’ers had
its annual fun-fly with plenty of food, fun,
and flying. The weather was just right with
little wind.
The airplanes ranged from trainers,
military, large aerobatic aircraft, and of
course, the old stand-by Cub with large
bush-type wheels. There were even some
Old-Timer models.
Along with the event came the usual fun
and ribbing always enjoyed by this club.
This is always a case of “if you do not want
to have fun, stay home.” So next year when
the R/C’ers get together, come and join
them. You will not regret it!

The military was also represented.
Everyone got involved.
DCRC held its annual event at the Flying
Circus field in Bealeton, Virginia, again this
year. There were airplanes of all types and
sizes. Friday was a great day and not quite
as hot as last year.
With the weather forecast pending, CD
Andy Kane decided to hold the barbecue on
Friday night instead of Saturday as usual.
After the meal, the raffle was held and many
went away with smiling faces and prizes
they had won.
Andy made a wise decision because it
began to rain before we left and rained most
of the next day. I understand this is the first
time weather had been a major problem. We
all hope for better weather next year
although we did need the rain.

Aviation Day was sponsored by Hickory
Moose Lodge #1312, West Hickory Aero
Modelers, Caldwell Aero Modelers, and
AMA District IV. The day included kids and
their parents building and flying model
airplanes. Approximately 20 participated in
the event.
After the building session, there was
lunch and outdoor flying, which seemed to
be the most fun. I’m not sure who enjoyed
the flying the most—parents or the kids.
Along with the flying there were displays
and demonstrations of flying. One electric
park flyer was flown and a jet model was
taxied around the parking lot. Various other
models were on display for all to see.
I would like to thank the Moose Lodge,
West Hickory Aero Modelers, Caldwell
Aero Modelers, and other members of
District IV who helped out with the event.
We are already planning for next year.
