Swap Meets

The Triad Aeromodelers Inc. held its annual swap meet at the Davidson County Fairgrounds in Lexington, North Carolina. As usual, there were plenty of buyers and bargains galore. This is one of the club’s prominent fundraisers to help support its flying facilities. From the pictures you can see there was a lot to look at for nearly everyone.

The Winston-Salem R/C Club held its annual swap meet at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds this past November. There were many lookers and buyers, so vendors and shoppers were both happy. This year the swap meet was blessed with vendors offering a wide variety of items.

Scale and Collecting

For those interested in old magazines, there were plenty for people wishing to complete their collections—I even found some for my own. As you know, we have lost some publications, so these magazines have become even more valuable. Those interested in scale often find it hard to locate documentation for their aircraft; these old magazines are one useful source.

These get-togethers are times to:

  • renew friendships,
  • stock up for the upcoming flying season,
  • find something new or different.

You know that spring is not too far away and you can get back to flying—that’s what it’s all about anyway.

See you at some of the upcoming events!

Pylon Racing

There is a new pylon racing club in North Carolina. Those interested in pylon racing should check out the Old Julian Airport Model Airplane Club near Greensboro. Racing seems to be picking up lately in District IV, and a number of clubs are holding racing and speed rallies. These sports are enjoyed by a fairly large number of people.

Final Notes

As a final thought, I want to thank those who supported me in the past election.

Also, check out the AMA website to see the new museum addition made possible by Claude McCullough's generous donation—you’ll be glad you did.

See you soon.
