AMA News District XI - 2009/02

ON SATURDAY, December 6, the
Northwest Skyraiders hosted its club swap
meet. As it has been for the past several
years, the swap meet was held at Clover
Park Tech College Aviation Center at the
Puyallup Airport, located at 17214 110th
Avenue East, in south Puyallup.
I attended this event three years ago and
found many treasures. This year I got there a
little late and, as you might expect, most of
the “good stuff” had sold. There were some
great vintage as well as new kits, A Top
Flight Stinson Reliant kit at a give-away
price, as well as many other kits. There were
some nice vintage engines as well as vintage
modelers (they are going to kill me for
that!).
As always, a good time was had by all
and this is an event to put on your winter
calendar.
Just because Old Man Winter has set in,
doesn’t mean there is nothing to do. By the
time you read this, the indoor fliers will
have hosted an indoor fly-in at Hood River,
Oregon. Weather permitting, I will be able
to report on this. A severe winter storm is
due in here that weekend.
Last but not least, the Northwest Model
Hobby Expo and swap meet in Monroe,
Washington, is on the horizon. If you have
not made this trip, you are missing one of
the top events in the Northwest. John and his
helpers put a lot of effort into making this
worth the trip from anywhere in the district.
Until next time … Bruce
