AMA News: District XI-2011/12

Author: Bruce Nelson

Edition: Model Aviation - 2011/12
Page Numbers: 155

The following column was submitted by Jim
Hiller:
I JUST RETURNED from the Emerald Air
Corps (EAC) Annual Pattern Contest held at
Walker Field, just south of Creswell,
Oregon.
The McClellan family and friends have
managed and served as CDs for the contest
for 25 consecutive years—providing a fun
time and great food.
Twenty competitors gathered to fly in
nearly perfect conditions. Roy and Dorothy
Speights of California joined Northwest
competitors. Roy has been actively
competing throughout the West for nearly
three decades, attending all 25 Emerald Air
Corps contests. I’ve enjoyed flying with the
couple since the mid-1980s.
Additional information about the event is
available at the National Society of Radio
Controlled Aerobatics (NSRCA) site:
www.nsrca.us.
