comHerb Bone, from the Marymoor R/C
Club in Redmond, Washington, wrote to me about a display the club put on for a local senior center. Activities such as this further the interests of the hobby in general because they build good will in the community and the seniors have family and friends who will hear about what we are doing.Herb wrote: On a sunny day in August, the Marymoor R/C Club put on a display of model airplanes at the local Redmond Senior Center to entertain and to expose others to aeromodeling. Club members displayed a variety of RC models including trainers, sport models, large aerobatic models, and a turbine-powered jet model. The visitors included many senior citizens who were interested in the models, how they worked, and where we flew them. Some visitors had their own “I used to fly models” stories. The club members were happy to display their models and to talk with the seniors. The center rewarded us with a nice lunch. The model display was in the same area as a display of nicely restored Ford Model A cars.
