EACH YEAR, AMA funds allocated to the
District I budget are used to sponsor flying
events or aeromodeling activities with AMA
chartered clubs. To obtain AMA
sponsorship, the clubs must open attendance
to other AMA club members and provide for
adequate parking and spectator admittance.
The purpose of the monetary incentive is
to help clubs defer some of the cost of
bringing members together in an atmosphere
of hospitality and friendship for flying and
fun.
The first district event this year was the
return of the Multi-Club Fly-In at the South
Shore Radio Control Club (SSRCC) on June
5, 2010. Through the combined efforts of
the 2010 SSRCC president, Zahoor Bajwa,
CD William O’Donnell, and Carl Vogel,
District I associate vice president, the event
was professionally planned, advertised and
directed.
SSRCC members received expert help in
running this year’s event from the Otis
Model Aero Club members who ran the
flightline and flying activities in a safe,
organized, and efficient manner.
Many pilots conveyed to me their
enjoyment and satisfaction claiming this was
a top notch event at a terrific flying site that
they plan on attending every year. Keep
checking the SSRCC Web site, at
www.ssrcc.org for many other friendly funfly
events, pylon competitions and other
club activities.

The SSRCC Multi-Club Fly-In was a fun event with a wide variety of aircraft flown.
(L-R) CD Bill O’Donnell, Bob Mandeville, and
Brad Kaye registered pilots and did event
announcing. Scott Lyons with his 46% Bipe was followed
by a line of eager pilots heading for the flight
stations.
Ray Schmidt flew his ¼-scale Albatros D.V.
Ted Brito and Gerry Dupont flew warbirds.
Ken Crane flew his 3D Wild Hair Extra.
Club president Zahoor Bajwa, recovering
from surgery, watched the event from inside
his cool motor home with visits from friends.
