NEHC Heli Phenomenon (Mansfield, MA)
The New England Heli Crew (NEHC) in Mansfield, Massachusetts, held its annual helicopter smackdown September 13–15 at the club’s flying site. The event offered on-site camping, three flightlines with multiple stations, AC and DC power for charging, heli crash replacement parts, food, beverages, and porta-potties.
Raffle items at the sixth annual 2013 NEHC Heli Phenomenon were valued at more than $10,000.
As one of the largest helicopter events in the East, NEHC attracts some of the world’s best pilots. There are few gatherings where you will experience such a high energy level of flying activity and showmanship.
Associate Vice President Jim Gilliatt and I were asked to be expert witnesses for a Guinness world-record attempt. Although the attempt was just shy of a record, it was spectacular to see and hear the buzz of 96 airborne helicopters.
