Catawba Valley R/Cers

In May, North Carolina’s Catawba Valley R/Cers held a fun-fly with proceeds going to the Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley. The donation check presented to the hospice organization was for $900.

Caldwell Aeromodelers

The Caldwell Aeromodelers held their second annual Fun Soar at the club field in Hudson, North Carolina, during the Memorial Day weekend. Glider pilots from Asheville, Statesville, Hickory, and Wilkesboro, North Carolina, participated in the event.

The early fog cleared by mid-morning and gave way to beautiful Carolina blue skies and white puffy clouds. Though thermals were elusive during the day, pilots and spectators had a fun time and enjoyed a great day of soaring and meeting new friends.

Riverside Aero Modelers Society (RAMS)

The Riverside Aero Modelers Society (RAMS) in East Bend, North Carolina, held its open house on May 1–2, 2010. Thirty-six pilots showed up to have fun.

The new strip is 1,000 by 100 feet, providing ample room for takeoff and landing, and the site boasts more than 800 acres to fly over. There are no trees, and it’s just a great place to fly.

Thanks to the club members and the others who stepped up to help finance this project and make it happen. And thanks to everyone who helped with the work involved.
