Macon Aero Modelers Club (Franklin, NC)
The Macon Aero Modelers Club of Franklin, North Carolina, found a way to have fun and benefit CareNet, a charity that helps feed the hungry. Bob Wilson, a club member, wrote about the event and emphasized encouraging clubs to get involved in community efforts. "A club doesn't have to have 300 members to do it," he wrote. "Small clubs can put on charity events as well. The effort makes friends for our sport and helps the community, so everyone benefits."
Bob submitted photos of two events:
- The club's booth at a local county fair.
- A fly-in held in September 2011.
Both events educated the public about aeromodeling while raising money and awareness for CareNet. Admission to the fly-in was 10 cans of food; the club collected more than 250 cans.
