FLIGHTS UNLIMITED, also known as
Hardee’s Air Show Team, flew its
demonstration two consecutive days at the
Danville Regional Airport, Danville,
Virginia, May 3-4, 2003.
Included in the routine were helicopter,
International Miniature Aerobatics Club
(IMAC), and flying-lawnmower
demonstrations. Scale warbirds were flown
during the show and there was a buddy-box
session.
This was in conjunction with a full-scale
air show, which included aerobatic routines,
helicopter rides, the “flying farmer,” a static
display, civilian and military aircraft, and
the Heritage flight with the A-10 Warthog
and a P-51.
Jeff Phillips, who headed up the show
team, said they will also be flying at the
Festival of Flight in Fayetteville, North
Carolina.
AMA was represented by a booth display
staffed by Shirley Teague in the terminal
building.
There was a booth by Bob Morgan who
was pilot of the Memphis Belle B-17 in
Europe. The space center in Huntsville,
Alabama, was there with its display.
It was a fun weekend for all who
attended and watched.
The AMA booth was staffed by Shirley
Teague.

Here is one of the many full-scale military
aircraft.
The Colonial Virginia Aeromodelers
(CVA) held its 12th annual Mall Show at the
Outlet Mall in Lightfoot, Virginia, May 15-
16, 2003. This weekend affair featured a
display of more than 30 aircraft of all types
and sizes, equipment displays, simulators,
and CVA members building and repairing
aircraft in addition to just talking about
radio-control flying to scores of interested
mall patrons.
The patrons cast their votes for Best-in-
Show for the aircraft on display. A raffle
was held for two nice almost-ready-to-fly
(ARF) models. As in the past years, the
show attracted a large number of interested
mall shoppers and is sure to result in some
new membership candidates for the local
club.
Information and pictures were furnished
by Ed Zwerski, CVA activites chairman.
This is the main display at the Outlet Mall.
CVA members are talking about Radio
Control while a couple of youngsters fly
the simulator.
I want to thank all who sent in information
and pictures of their activities. Let other
modelers know what you are doing. I
appreciate your input.
The many newsletters I receive are a joy
to read and help keep me informed. Thank
you very much.
Meanwhile, take a kid flying. Teach him
or her a clean, worthwhile sport/hobby.
