District IV Report-2004/12

THE MINI-DOME in Johnson City, Tennessee, was the site again for the Indoor Nats. I attended two days with my good friend, Cliff Cullpepper. Cliff was a world of information, which made the event more interesting to a first-timer.

I was amazed at the time, effort, and skills the modelers put into these airplanes. There were several records set this time that may be hard to beat.

With some of the lighter models, the owners had to walk very slowly for fear of breaking them. The propellers on these airplanes turned so slowly you could count the turns. These are some very dedicated modelers.

Abram Van Dover was the CD and kept things in order, assisted by Nats Manager, Ron Morgan and his wife, Jane.

The Mini-Dome is a great facility for this event, and I understand the contestants made a sizeable contribution toward its rent.

Until next time, go take a kid flying.
