Winston-Salem RC Club Swap Meet
The Winston-Salem RC Club held its annual swap meet at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds on November 13, 2004. As the pictures show, there was much wheeling and dealing, and many buyers and sellers were successful.
This is an annual fund-raiser for the club and a time to get ready for the flying season.
Smith Lake Flyers Swap Meet and Demonstration
The Smith Lake Flyers of Concord, North Carolina, held their annual swap meet and demonstration at the Cabarrus Arena and Event Center on November 20, 2004.
Along with buying and selling, there were flying demonstrations, both indoors and outdoors, showcasing various facets of modeling. The tables were nearly sold out. Almost anything you wanted—from engines, kits, and radios to accessories—was available. Many airplanes were ready to fly after adding fuel or charging batteries. The event was well organized and very successful. Try them out next year.
Central Carolina Modelers: Fox & Gifts for Kids Benefit Fly-In
The Central Carolina Modelers held their second annual Fox & Gifts for Kids Benefit Fly-In at the club field on November 27, 2004. The entry fee was a factory-wrapped gift or a $10 donation.
Although this was held on a Thanksgiving weekend, the turnout was good. There were 17 registered pilots, and a number of spectators enjoyed a relaxing day of flying in fall-like weather and pleasant surroundings.
Entry fees raised $50, and 20 gifts were collected. A Park Zone Cub raffle raised $83, and the kitchen (serving Jack's Famous Hot Dogs) raised $50. All proceeds were donated to benefit area foster children at Christmas.
