Finally, flying weather is back with us. I hope that by now everyone has cycled their batteries and had a chance to get out and do some flying.
Kudos to Dusty Riley are again in order for doing the legwork to obtain aother Missouri State Proclamation establishing August 16, 2014, National Model Aviation Day. Dusty is with the Kansas City Northern Knights Model Airplane Club.
Thank you, Dusty. I appreciate it.

In March, Jim Holt invited me to attend the first Midwest Air Wing Swap meet in Granite City, Illinois. My wife and I attend, bought some things, and had a great time. I had the opportunity to talk with many of the people there.
It was a great crowd for a first-time event, including a few vendors. Everyone there made us feel at home. Thanks for the invitation, Jim.

The following was submitted by Tom Duncan:
“I sent pictures of my Top Flight Gold Edition P-51 Arkansas Ridge Runner. It had three flights on it at this time last summer.
“Our local airport in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, had two visitors in the form of a Commemorative Air Force B-25 and P-51 Mustang, which, lucky for me, was in the 4th Fighter Group colors, which my Mustang is done in.
“The 4th Fighter Group was originally formed by many former Eagle Squadron pilots after America entered the war. The Top Flight Mustang I have is done in the colors of Maj. Pierce McKinnen from Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was a high-scoring Ace and the squadron leader. He also played outstanding Boogie Woogie in the officers’ mess hall. He was a real interesting guy.
“Hope to see you all at the Rend Lake Military Fly-In, on September 13 and 14.
“Thanks.”
