On September 27-28, we will hold the annual District VIII Celebration of Flight in Kingsbury, Texas. We will have a barbecue on Saturday night along with a brief membership meeting for those who attend.
Kingsbury is a wonderful flying site so please come out and support the Tri City Fliers.

On Father’s Day weekend, we attended the Texas City R/C Braden Clough Big Bird Memorial/Swap Meet. Randy Brown was the CD of record but Butch McEachem ran the event and did an outstanding job with help from many club members. They offered breakfast and lunch in a nice, air-conditioned building. This turned out to be a nice place to get away from the heat!

Jeffery Sears ran the registration with some help from Wanda Johnston and Randy Brown.

One of the participants broke an elevator during his flight and this wonderful bunch of fliers fixed his airplane for him. They all just wanted everyone to have fun!

Look, how many people are working on this airplane!

On June 27-28, I went to Bray, Oklahoma, for the Oklahoma Warbirds event put on by Team Realm. The event was attended by approximately 45 pilots. Bill Holland CDed the event. He and Team Realm did a great job.
The wind gods just did not want to be nice. The wind blew 18-25 mph with gusts to 30 both days. Greg Ward was the announcer for the Saturday morning when the wind was down. Numerous flights were made before the event officially ended at noon.

Lyle Vaser, Steve Forest, and Jimmy Cowman flew a nice routine with two Mustangs and a German Stuka.

The club’s site is an old, full-scale site that now serves as a great RC facility. On Saturday night we had a huge catfish fry and get-together. Everyone had lots of food and there was some night flying afterward. A huge thanks to Team Realm for everything the members did for the event!

Jimmy Cowman won the Critics’ Choice award.

Lyle Vaser and Steve Forest won Best Scale Performance.

After a nine-hour drive home on Saturday, I attended the Albuquerque RC Club Scale meet Sunday, June 29 at George Maloof Airpark. Approximately 40 pilots attended from Arizona, California, and New Mexico. Ray Dukart was the CD. There was lots of good flying and everyone had a good time.

All of the events have more pictures in the digital edition. Hope to see you all at the field!
