Palouse Region R/C Flyers — Kindergarten Demonstration

Palouse Region R/C Flyers, located in eastern Washington State and northern Idaho, continue a longstanding tradition of educating youngsters at a local school.

Each year the Palouse Region R/C Flyers put on a demonstration for the kindergarten class in Potlatch, Idaho. The teacher requested the club because she is teaching the children about different modes of transportation, and aircraft are one of those modes.

The club brings models and shows the students how the controls work and how airplanes fly. Safety Officer Mel Colvin has been the key person in this endeavor.

Club Officers

  • Dave Walker — President
  • Colleen Bumgarner — Secretary and Treasurer
  • Bruce Bumgarner — Vice President

The photos were taken by Joe Bolden. He has been assisting with this endeavor for four years.

The kindergarten class program was started by Al Culver, an AMA associate vice president in District XI, in 1997.

This is another example of how a club can provide a community service while promoting the club and model aviation.

Good work, people. Thanks to Joe Bolden for this report and the photos.

Until next time.
