Report from the Crazy Mountain Flyers (Clyde Park, Montana)

Submitted by Robert Taylor, club secretary

At the foot of the majestic Rocky Mountains, the Crazy Mountain Flyers held its 14th Annual Fly-In. The mowed-grass airfield in Park County, Montana, plays host to avid RC pilots as well as aviators of full-scale antique aircraft.

It is a win-win to have the Montana Antique Aircraft Association share the runway early Saturday morning. The Association members provided a catered breakfast, and pilots and their family members enjoyed visiting and sharing their passion for flying—both from the ground and in the air.

This year, 30 airplanes landed on the strip, starting at 6:30 a.m.

The Crazy Mountain Flyers also hosted local Cub Scout Pack 555. All of the Scouts were given an AMA Cub model airplane to build and fly, and they were given the opportunity to fly radio-control aircraft using the buddy-box system for hands-on experience.

Each Scout who participated during the fly-in received a Cub Scout flying patch.
