District XI Report - 2003/11

June 20–22 found us at the SW Idaho ScaleMasters Qualifier, held at the Nampa Model Aviators field. This field sits on a bluff in the middle of a golf course with a spectacular view. The Idaho Scale Squadron sponsored the event, and contest director (CD) Ray Schellekens did a great job directing the contest.

Officials and judging

  • Al Culver, District XI Associate Vice President, served as chief judge.
  • Al and his judging crew had a tough time choosing winners from this lineup.

Many club members made this a wonderful event for modelers and spectators.

Volunteers and support

  • Mike Ingram, despite suffering a leg injury, put in many long hours.
  • Teri Ingram served as chief statistics officer; if Teri were any faster totaling and checking the scores, they would be posted before the flight was over.

At the Saturday night dinner the traditional paper airplane contest was held. I can't help but wonder how many mothers said to their children, "I hope you don't act like that when you are out." Thanks to all who made this event so much fun.
