ONE OF the questions I'm asked most often, as Model Aviation's "Radio Control Electrics" columnist and an active Electric flier, is how to convert Gas model designs to electric power. Specific inquiries run the gamut from Old-Timers to classic trainers to contemporary so-called trainers, from Scale to aerobatic, and from small to large in size and power level. Clearly, no single answer could cover such a multiplicity of contingencies. This article, therefore, focuses on one broad area of interest-Electri-flying large noncompetition models that have basically trainerlike characteristics and that are powered by relatively large (bigger than 05) systems.
