ELECTRONICS vs. THREE-LINE BELLCRANK systems continues to be a topic of discussion among readers of this column. In the June issue I spoke about the merits of each system, and the use of one or the other, or that a combination of the two systems would probably satisfy most CL Scale modelers. I guess serenity is not to be. A difference of opinion has been expressed as to which system is best and when they/it should be used.

SCALE FOR FUN? For the past several years, many letters have been received from modelers interested in Scale, but not necessarily for competition. Their interest is in building nonflying models for show, or for fun and challenge only. One such recent letter came from Ron Heiser of Houston, Texas. Ron wrote that he has enjoyed building and flying Scale and Stunt models for over 45 years. Ron is seen in one of the accompanying photos with his latest Scale plane, a Great Lakes Trainer, made from a converted Flying Models RC kit.

SCALE RULES CHANGES: I believe the low number of rules changes (only four this past rules cycle) affecting control line Scale must be some sort of record. It has been many years since we had so few changes to be aware of going into a new competition season. Two of the proposals that passed were really not changes, but clarifications, if you will, of a rule that already exists in the General Section of the Competition Regulations. That is, only one model can be entered in an event unless specified otherwise in particular event rules. This was covered in Paragraph 10, Number of Models, in the "General Information All Categories" section of the rule book.

A NAME TO REMEMBER: It is with a heavy heart that I report the passing of George Gaydos, one of our most ardent control line modelers on the East Coast. On Sunday, September 19, 1993, George succumbed to a heart attack while working as a contest director for the Garden State Circle Burners Annual Scale Meet at Teteboro Airport, New Jersey.

A RECENT LETTER from Gerald Deneau asked that I appeal to readers for information on Scale data sources. Gerald noted that the National Association of Scale Aeromodelers (NASA) is in the process of updating its Scale Data Source List and could use your help. Needed are any sources where a Scale modeler can obtain airplane photos, three-views, and documentation. To those who may not know what the Data Source List is all about: it is an inventory of the names and addresses of individuals and organizations where photos, three-views, and other Scale modeling documentation can be obtained. The list is provided to NASA members as part of their membership; NASA membership only costs $8, or $14 outside the US. To find out about joining, send your name, address, and phone number to Bert Dugan at 11090 Phyllis Dr., Clio, MI 48420.
