SAM Champs 2004 - 2005/04

THIS WAS THE 38th year that the
old-timers—men and models—
gathered in early September for the
Society of Antique Modelers (SAM)
annual SAM Championships—an event
based on the original Nationals held
during the Golden Age of model
aviation in the 1930s. The 2004 SAM
Champs was held at the beautiful AMA
flying site in Muncie, Indiana.

SAM Champs 2000

SAM, “play it again,” and the 34th annual
SAM (Society of Antique Modelers)
Champs, a seven-day Old-Timer modeling
event filled with flying, fun, and
camaraderie, was underway October 6-13.
SAM selected Pensacola, Florida for
the 2000 event. The flying site was the US
Navy’s Spencer Field, which offered one
square mile of manicured grass with
paved replica aircraft carrier decks
running several directions.
