District XI - 2015/05
The 2015 North West Model Hobby Expo in Monroe, Washington, was the 38th year of this long-running event. It moved to the Evergreen Fairgrounds from Puyallup, Washington, in 2007 where it had been since 1977.
District XI - 2015/04
Last month, I showed pictures of three businesses in the AMA Hobby Shop Program and I was honored to present a $1,000 check to the winner of the program’s 2014 drawing.
District XI 2015/03
January 1, 2015, brought out the hardy fliers! The Nampa Model Aviators of Idaho, joined by five members of the Boise Area Remote Kontrol Society, braved the 9° temperatures to share chili, doughnuts, coffee, and hot dogs to ring in the New Year. This is a wonderful way for two clubs to gather and enjoy their common interest!
District XI - 2015/02
Thank you for the opportunity to continue to serve the Academy of Model Aeronautics and District XI. I see the challenges of the coming years to be exciting, frustrating, and rewarding. Hmmm, that sounds like the last airplane I built—the excitement of opening the box and planning the build, studying the plans, checking the parts, then the frustration of it taking longer to build than you expect, and finally the reward of taking it to the flying field to show off your handiwork!
District XI - 2015/01
A-6 Intruders return to OLF Coupeville. The A-6 was retired in 1997 from the Navy. Naval Air Station (NAS) Whidbey was one of last stations to fly the Intruder. VA-165 and VA-196 from NAS Whidbey had film footage in the movie Flight of the Intruder.
